The booked Louis Vuitton appointment at 11:00 on Passeig de Gràcia is the morning anchor. Bring both existing covers. Sagrada Família is booked for 14:00. A laundry stop back near the hotel after, so nothing dirty gets packed for Rome, then sunset from the Montjuïc terrace and the Magic Fountain after dark (it runs Thursdays).

Carry your passport the Sagrada Família ticket is nominative, they check the name against a photo ID at the entrance and again at the tower lift.

Bus/metro back toward the hotel (~15 min), then the trip's last-night laundry stop: El Safareig del Barri (self-service, Carrer d'Aragó 104 at Compte Borrell), a straight ~19-minute walk down Aragó from the hotel (1.4 km each way). Open 8:00-22:00, 365 days a year, +34 934 616 878. Wash and dry back to back, then the same walk back.

Call it two hours all in: ~15 min back to the hotel, ~19 min each way to the laundrette (38 min round trip), a 30-40 min wash and a 30-40 min dry running back to back. Nothing dirty gets packed for the 05:20 start tomorrow. Hotel valet is the backup if it's ever closed or you'd rather skip it, but self-service runs roughly €10-20 total for both of you versus $80-150+ for a two-person valet load.

Bag dropped back at the hotel, then metro to Espanya and up the steps of Montjuïc to the MNAC terrace (the Palau Nacional). Free, open, and one of the best city panoramas there is, this is the sunset spot now that the Búnkers close early.

Font Màgica de Montjuïc, the light-and-music fountain right below you, runs Thursday to Saturday evenings in October and tonight is Thursday. house pick Catalana is a Barcelona institution on Carrer de Mallorca, right on the way to the Sagrada, busy and a bit known but the plates are genuinely good. It's walk-in only, no reservations, expect a 10-45 minute wait that gets worse later, so go right at opening if you want the short version. Or any spot doing a €14 three-course menú del día away from Passeig de Gràcia.

Order: The montadito de solomillo (beef tenderloin with foie gras, the most-ordered dish here), the cod with honey, flor de calabacín (a fried, often shrimp-stuffed zucchini flower), jamón ibérico. Most tables order a Sangria de Cava over anything else, cava/red wine/fresh fruit, the closest thing to a fruity cocktail on this leg.

Quimet & Quimet (Poble Sec) or a Carrer Blai pintxo crawl

house pick Quimet & Quimet is standing-room montaditos and a hundred bottles, no reservations, five minutes below the Montjuïc steps. Carrer Blai is the cheap-and-cheerful pintxo street right next to it. Either beats anything on La Rambla by a mile.

Order: At Quimet: the salmon, yogurt & truffled honey montadito (the famous one, off the official menu, not sardine despite what you'll hear), the foie-gras with volcanic salt, scallops with caviar if you're splurging, a tin of ventresca. The house vermouth (red or white, award-winning) beats the beer here.

The afternoon Sagrada slot is deliberate this year, the 09:00 and 2:30 slots were already gone. Afternoon means the Passion-side windows, cooler blues and greens, still spectacular, and a 2:00 entry clears the towers well before they shut at 17:00.

Buying Sagrada tickets from anyone on the street or a resale site, only tickets.sagradafamilia.org. Tickets load in batches from about two months out, so start checking ~60 days ahead and look daily until your date appears. And skip going inside Casa Batlló (€30+ each) unless architecture is your thing.

Slot falls through: walk 15 minutes down Avinguda Gaudí to the Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau (the old hospital, a full Modernista complex, jaw-dropping, never crowded). Even just the exterior and the gardens are worth it, and it talks straight back to the Sagrada a few blocks away.

Look for it on the walk

At the base of the Nativity facade columns: two stone tortoises, a sea turtle on the coast side, a land tortoise on the mountain side. Gaudí encoded the geography into the church.
On the Passion facade, a 4×4 “magic square” every row, column and diagonal sums to 33, Christ's age. Subitachi carved it.
The columns inside branch like trees and the ceiling opens into stone sunflowers. In the afternoon the colour has crossed over, blues and greens pour in on the Passion side while the Nativity side goes quiet.

The things you'd wish you knew

Gaudí is buried in the crypt. When he died in 1926, hit by a tram, at first mistaken for a beggar because of his shabby clothes, only about a quarter of the church was finished.

It was consecrated by Pope Benedict XVI in 2010, 128 years after the first stone. The central Tower of Jesus Christ is topping out around 2026 at 172.5 m, one metre shorter than Montjuïc hill, on purpose: Gaudí said nothing built by man should rise above God's work. You are seeing it in the year it becomes the tallest church on earth.
